Deserts are among the most extreme environments on Earth, where life must adapt to survive. These ecosystems are characterized by arid conditions and scarce water in regions like the Sahara and the American Southwest. 

Given these harsh conditions, the food chains in deserts are short, direct, and closely tied to water availability. Nonetheless, they support some of the most resilient plants and animals.
